The workpiece to be rolled must be prepared to the pre-machining diameter. This is a guideline due to the variety of rollable materials and is increased, if necessary, in steps of 0.01 mm until the thread is fully formed. A further increase in diameter would damage the tool due to overloading.

Rolling speed:

We recommend a rolling speed of 20 to 50 m/min. Non-ferrous metals should be rolled in the upper cutting speed range, free-cutting steels in the middle and difficult-to-machine steels in the lower cutting speed range. Sufficient lubrication with cutting oil is required.

Rollable materials:

JBO thread rolling dies are suitable for cold-formable

materials with a minimum elongation of approx. 8% and a strength of up to approx. 900 N/mm 2. The workpiece must have a chamfer of 15-20° so that the rolling die rolls easily. The chamfer and preparation diameter must run smoothly.
